The IMDA engage with Government.
Following a highly successful and insightful first meeting with MP Iain Stewart Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Scotland), to discuss some of the concerns and challenges that Independent Motor Dealers face in the UK, Jim Reid of the IMDA felt that the concerns were taken seriously and that there was a keen interest from the Minister for the IMDA to continue to lobby the UK Government in this direct method.
The meeting held on Budget Day the 3rd of March 2021 covered many areas including Incentives to help the sale of used Electric Vehicles and discussions around the DVLA and DVSA legislation.
“There was a real keenest to listen, assist and support the IMDA from the Minister” said Reid, “Minister Stewart has promised to personally assist by introducing the IMDA directly to those who make decisions at Ministerial Level within Parliament on policy and legislation that affect the Motor Industry”.
This is a major step forward for the IMDA as we seek to become ‘The Voice’ for the Independent Motor Dealers in the UK. It will help us not only obtain information about policy and legislation but also gives us the opportunity to help influence them.
