What to do?
We’re in a very strange place, one that none of us have ever experienced, you are not alone the whole world is having the same issues, so how do we all deal with such an ‘unknown situation’?
All business relies on ‘cash flow’, when things are ticking over there are no issues, it’s when it stops that we all truly feel the full impact.
Those bills keep rolling in, the Direct debits keep taking the money, some dealers may see this as a great opportunity to buy stock at less than market value and capitalise when things get back to ‘normal’.
There are no text book answers, we all have to look at our own business’s and make decisions to what is the best solution, things are quieter, the footfall form what we’re hearing is virtually no existent as consumers are drawn away from car purchases to concentrate on other things, many of who are affected in their own jobs too.
Maybe this is a time to catch up with all those jobs that need doing, keeping the pitch clean and tidy, making sure the cars all start and are all photographed and video’s done, if you’re not doing video due to time constraints maybe this is the time to start doing them and telling consumers the benefits of buying them ‘unseen’ and offering home delivery? Maye look at adding ‘end to end’ buying solution on your website if you haven’t already got that, talk out our website supplier partners and see how they can help you.
Most of all, we are business owners who keep fighting and battle on, but we also need to remember we’re not immune from this virus so we must also look after ourselves and our staff/colleagues/mates, pals and make sure they are fit and healthy too.
The IMDA is a community and we can help and support each other, our Facebook group is a great place to have conversations, debates and sharing ideas, we’re we can also help each other if one dealer has too much stock and needs to move it quickly another dealer might just be in a position to help, a win-win for all, so please get involved.
AIEA – Auto Industry Excellence Awards.
Sadly the ultimate decision in the interest of everyone is to postpone the event, we know everyone has so much been looking to celebrate the success’s and meeting up with colleagues but nature of this unusual situation doesn’t give it an option to continue with it, we believe this will be re-scheduled to possibly October, however as soon as new dates are conformed we will be telling everyone.
In the meanwhile, please take care and keep positive.
